Quercetin
Quercetin is a naturally occurring zinc ionophore, therefore helping bring zinc into the cell. Once Zinc is inside the cell it is very effective at blocking the virus from replication. It does this by blocking the replication machinery of the virus. The key is to get zinc into the body before you are exposed to a virus. And most Americans are deficient in zinc.
Quercetin is also a powerful immune booster and broad-spectrum antiviral. Quercetin is a bioflavonoid that has been used for thousands of years as an anti-histamine and for respiratory disorders. It has no side effects and no toxicity. Quercetin promotes SIRT2, thereby inhibiting the NLRP3 inflammasome assembly involved with COVID-19 infection. It also transports zinc across cellular membranes.
Quercetin binds to the spike protein of SARS-CoV (the virus responsible for SARS), thereby inhibiting its ability to infect host cells.
It has also been identified as one of several molecules most likely to inhibit the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein from interacting with human cells Quercetin also inhibits platelet aggregation, and many COVID-19 patients suffer abnormal blood clotting.
Zinc
Zinc is essential for a healthy immune system and it can help shorten the duration of a cold and make symptoms less severe. Zinc helps your body fight infections by boosting the production of antibodies.
Vitamin C
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin that is thought to have beneficial effects in patients with severe and critical illnesses. It is an antioxidant and free radical scavenger that has anti-inflammatory properties, anti viral properties and influences cellular immunity and vascular integrity.
Vitamin C helps recycle oxidized quercetin, thereby producing a synergistic effect and enhancing quercetin’s antiviral capability.
Astragalus
Astragalus has a very long history as an immune system booster and disease fighter. Astragalus can reduce inflammatory response in connection to a number of illnesses and conditions, from helping to heal wounds and lesions to reducing inflammation in diabetic kidney disease. Because of astragalus’ antiviral capabilities, it has long been used to treat common colds and the flu.
Andrographis
Andrographis is most widely used to treat cold and flu symptoms. Andrographis is also said to act as a natural immune-booster. Andrographis appears to be beneficial for relieving symptoms of acute upper respiratory tract infections when compared to other herbs.
Sambucus
Sambucus (elderberry extract) The active compound in elderberry that makes it a potent anti-viral is called antivirin. Elderberry extract has been found to reduce the duration of the flu and relieve symptoms on an average of four days earlier.
Spirulina
Spirulina is a type of blue-green microalgae that is able to grow in both fresh and salt water. Purported spirulina benefits include stimulation of the immune system, fights viral infections, and promotes energy. Spirulina may have tremendous potential to boost the body’s type 1 interferon response in fighting RNA viral infections.
Oregano
Oregano has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. It also helps in fighting lifestyle diseases and food-borne illnesses.
